Grin of the Week

Well, it is a couple of grins...

I don't know that I actually *like* The Andy Griffith Show, I just been watching it almost every weekday for like forever. (I live in the south, I have no choice.)

I thought it would be nice to do a Monday Grin with Andy, but the only really nice picture of him smiling had Barny in it too.

Y'all have a nice week now, ya' hear.

How to Train Your Dragon

Well, for quite a long time now, I have been absolutely in love with the soundtrack of a movie that I had never seen: How to Train Your Dragon. (I always thought that was a bit odd.) Really it was the perfect music, kinda a cross between Owl City and Lord of the Rings. Yeah, awesome music. Perfect music.

And finally, I got to see the movie itself.

How to Train Your Dragon was every bit as epic as the soundtrack.

More so, even,
BECAUSE THE VIKINGS HAD SCOTTISH ACCENTS!!! I mean, you can't beat that, really, you can't. Vikings weren't Scottish, I don't think, but really, that was genuinely awesome.

So, I had been watching it for about half a minute when I said to myself, "I officially love this movie."

Hiccup: My name's Hiccup. Great name, I know. But it's not the worst. Parents believe that a hideous name will frighten off gnomes and trolls. Like our charming Viking demeanor wouldn't do that.

I've seen it four times , now, and guess what?

Hiccup: Most people would leave, but not us. We're Vikings. We have stubbornness issues.

I STILL OFFICIALLY LOVE IT!

Gobber:Trolls exist! They steal your socks, but only the left ones. What's with that?

Man, it is genuinely amazing. All of the detail, and and the facial expressions. And the scenery. I know, it's an animated movie, but the scenery is really, really beautiful. The whole movie is beautiful...and hilarious. It is about the funniest, most amazing movie there it.

Fishlegs: Chances of survival are dwindling into single-digits now...

Would I recommend it? Yes I would. Especially if you like 'Cars' and 'Lord of the Rings', 'cause it is, in a lovely little way, kinda like a cross between the two of them.

Gobber: Today is about survival. If you get blasted, you're dead. Quick! What's the first thing you're going to need?
Hiccup: A doctor?

If you ever watch it, let me know and I'll be happy for you. :)

Of Boring Books and Swimming Pools

Boring books are a lot like big swimming pools: when you start out it seems like you are making progress kinda quickly, but the farther in you get, the slower you get, and there is this place somewhere in the middle where you just seem to be treading, and treading, and not going anywhere. And while your arms and legs are working and while you seem to be turning the pages, you still seem to be treading in this one place somewhere in the middle.

I hate that place.

Just thought I'd tell you. :}

Ever wonder what became of the Jumpy Thug in 'Batman Begins'? You know, like, what did Batman actually do to him.

Well...

There has been some speculation (That is, I thought about it.), and this is what came up.

Yup.

...

Well, I thought this was awesome.

Like...really awesome.

Unnerving Incident of the Day, Update

When Kae saw this post http://jaysgoodones.blogspot.com/2011/03/unnerving-incident-of-day.html she laughed...and laughed...and laughed...and danced...and fist pumped...and laughed some more...and GLOATED!!!

Man, she SO got a kick out of the fact that she freaked me out.

Kae, I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

Unnerving Incident of the Day

Every morning, I get my Greek Yogurt and frozen blueberries and go on Kae's computer. Normally, I am greeted by a sweet bible verse, in sweet pastel letters, in a sweet pastel background, with a sweet pastel frame. Sweet, no?

So this morning, I was unsuspectingly turning on her computer, and unassumingly expecting to see the same thing I always saw.

Oh, gullible me.

Kae will be pleased to know that I freaked out.

Owl City Marathon

Well, it took maybe three hours and two computers, but I just finished listening to every single Owl City song. I'm not an insane FanGirl, an Owl City marathon was just something that I had been wanting to to for some time now. I'd heard almost all of the songs anyway. Just one thing to say, It. Was. Awesome. Just awesome.

"Captains and Cruiseships"
"Cave In"
"Christmas Song"
"Dear Vienna"

"Fireflies"
"Fuzzy Blue Lights"
"Hello Seattle"
"Hot Air Balloon"
"How Deep the Father's Love for Us"
"Halcyon"
"Helicopter Moon"
"I'll Meet You There"
"If My Heart Was a House"

"On the Wing"
"Panda Bear"
"Peppermint Winter"
"Rainbow Veins"
"Rugs From Me to You"
"Sky Diver"

"Sunburn"
"Super Honeymoon"
"Swimming in Miami"
"The Airway"
"The Bird and the Worm"

2011, And the Potentially Epic Movies Therein

I've got to say this, 2011 hast to be the best year for awesome movies. OK, movies that might be awesome. Emphasis on the 'might', I haven't seen any of them yet, but it is only a matter of time.

Okay, I have to confess, I used to think Captain America had to be one of the tackiest sounding superheroes there was. I am slowly but surely changing my mind about this and am
totally looking forward to this new movie. I get the feeling it is just going to be dripping with amazing...but I really couldn't say.

True, I don't think Chris Evans is great, but I think he'll do an awesome job. And Redscull is looking epic, badguy epic, that is. But yeah, I am really excited about this movie and am really hoping I'll get to see it in the theater (*
hint hint* dear mother).

Transformers:The Dark of the Moon. I really am actually not looking forward to it. But I might as well, seeing as how I am going to have to see it. (Kae is, after all, a devout Transformers FanGirl.) I'm mostly just worried that Michael Bay will kill off some of the 'Bots I like. (Read: Bumblebee, Optimus, Ironhide, that cool new 'Bot call Sentinel Prime, or anybody else.) And the new girlfriend looks vaguely demented and like she ran into a wall mouth first. The movie does have a good bit of potential, but then again, the other TF movies did, too. We'll see. If nothing else it will be epic to see the transformers on the big screen. 0_0

I don't intend to see X-Men: First Class in the theater (I'm actually not that big of an X-Men fan), but I really want to when it comes out in Redbox. I quite honestly think it looks like it is going to be the bet X-Men movie yet. Why? They finally made the X-Men actually look like the X-Men. They are wearing blue and yellow uniforms, like the X-Men are supposed to!!! I was really, really excited when I saw that.

So yeah, I'm thinking this is gonna be cool. And the fact that Jean Grey isn't in it doesn't hurt any.

So, of all these potentially awesome movies coming out, which one am I most looking forward to?

(*soft chuckle*)

When I first saw the trailer for Thor, I watched l six times in a row. Yeah. And countless more times after that.

I have to say, if this movie is anything close to as cool as it looks like it is going to be, it is going to be The. Most. Awesome. Movie. EVER. I am so serious.

I really can't get over how awesome I think it is going to be.

This my friends, is the Year of MARVEL. (No offense, DC fan.) Oh, and so is 2012, but I'll get to that when it is not so far off.

As my friend the Night Writer said, "It's a GREAT age to be a nerd."

Should I Be Worried?

I am starting to think in Shakespearean, should I be worried?

I'm serious. I thought something this morning and as soon as I thought it, I was like, wow, I just unintentionally sounded very Shakespeareish. And I've only read four of the bard's plays.

Sigh.

I'll let you know if my condition worsens.

Grin of the Week

This is for Kae, who is, by the way, a devout Transformers FanGirl.

(She'll get it.)

Yeah...

When my dear mother saw me making this, she asked me why I made a poster of a bad guy and not a good guy. Now, you may have the same question, so I'll give the answer.

If there was a picture of
any of the Autobots pointing like that, I would totally do them instead of Soundwave. But look at it this way, Soundwave is the coolest of all the Decepticons and one of the coolest Transformers.

If you are not a Transformers fan, you'll just have to take my word for it.

Grin of the Week

I normally don't ever become very fond of any one musician: I view them as an unsteady lot.

But, there is an exception.

Adam Young, the brilliant man behind Owl City.

This Grin of the Week is a bit different. This one, the picture is only part of the grin.

The other part is a song about smiling.

Owl City

For roughly eight months now, I have been in love. (I'd say 'deeply, passionately, truly,' but I hate it when people do that.)

To me, there are few things in the world as important as music. You need friends, you need water, and you need music. Music can love something because of music, I can hate something because of music. Music, is like faith, hope, and love. (Good music, that is. When I say 'music,' I mean 'good music.' Which is true music.)

As I said, I have been in love.

Owl City.

It sounds weird at first, but once you understand it (Some people never do, which is sad. They are called 'beliebers.' But I won't get into that.), it is the most glorious thing.

Let me show you.

This is the first Owl City song I ever heard. It is still my favorite.

There will be more posts about Owl City, just to give you fair warning. It has been some of my uttermost favorite music for quite some time now. I should have done a post about it a long time ago, I just never got around to it.

OK, call me a nerd, if you like (I'd take it as a complement, actually...), but I really, really love this picture. It just makes me smile so very much.

Tip of the Day

Don't get poison ivy.

Allow me to emphasize: Do. NOT. Get. Poison ivy. Run into a wall, bruise yourself, stub your toe, watch Star Trek: The Motion Picture, I don't care, just do not get poison ivy.

I spent last night contemplating amputation for my left arm. Poison ivy is not nice. And on top of everything, it looks like there is some sort of alien parasite living on you.

Yeah. That's disgusting.

My point was, don't get poison ivy.
